FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 18, 2018
New York, New York -- U.S. Senate candidate Chele Farley (R, C, Reform) today demanded that incumbent Senator Kirsten Gillibrand unequivocally condemn her fellow Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for statements she recently made. During an interview with "Firing Line" host Margaret Hoover, Ocasio-Cortez doubled down on her earlier comments accusing Israel Defense Forces soldiers of a "massacre" of Palestinian civilians and criticized the "occupation of Palestine." Farley's statement is below.
"Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez' comments attacking Israel, admittedly uninformed, are a reflection of the anti-Israel bias that is poisoning the Democratic Party and putting at risk the future of the Jewish State."
"After her unexpected win in the primary, Kirsten Gillibrand immediately embraced Ocasio-Cortez' candidacy and within hours adopted her dangerous idea of abolishing ICE. Does Kirsten Gillibrand also stand with Ocasio-Cortez in attacking Israel? Will Kirsten Gillibrand put her 2020 ambitions ahead of our Jewish community, the people of New York and our ally Israel?"
"I’m calling on Senator Kirsten Gillibrand to denounce Ocasio-Cortez' attacks of Israel in no uncertain terms, and to do it now. As New York’s Senator, I will always defend Israel and speak out against these types of attacks."
