Gillibrand Continues To Put Politics Ahead of Combating Terror

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 6, 2018

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – United States Senate candidate Chele Farley (R, C, Reform) today continued to shine a spotlight on Senator Kirsten Gillibrand’s dangerous, irresponsible and reckless call to scrap ICE, the Homeland Security agency charged with protecting our communities from sex-trafficking, drug smuggling and other dangerous criminal activity by illegal immigrants. ICE is at the forefront of combating the international criminal syndicate known as MS-13.

Said Farley: “MS-13 is being considered for terrorist designation and Kirsten Gillibrand’s solution is to abolish the very organization that will protect us from them. Her recent call to abolish ICE and open up our borders will give free reign to known thugs and criminals. While the brave men and women of ICE work hard to keep our communities safe from MS-13 members right here in New York, Kirsten Gillibrand denounces their bravery and instead demands we dismantle ICE so she can position herself as the face of the radical left wing of her party.”

During a June 28 interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand advocated for the complete elimination of ICE. Gillibrand’s own governor, Andrew Cuomo, rejected her plan to abolish ICE, calling it a “bona-fide law enforcement organization that prudently and diligently enforces the law."

MS-13 has over 10,000 members across 42 states in the US and 30,000 members worldwide. In April 2017, Attorney General Jeff Sessions suggested that MS-13 should be designated a “terrorist organization." Yet Kirsten Gillibrand is calling for the organization protecting communities from MS-13 to be scrapped with no plan to replace it.

“Enough is enough! It’s time to put New York’s safety first, New York’s security first and New York’s priorities first!" said Farley. "Cracking down on violent gangs should be a top priority for Kirsten Gillibrand, but it’s clear that her only priority is herself and her next run for higher office. She has moved so far left that she has completely lost sight of what is best for our state and country. The voters of New York can be assured that I will always Put New York First!”
